Disclosure Policy 2018-04-02T18:02:27+00:00

Updated: 2 April 2018

In the content of our blog, we strive for transparency and objectivity. This page exists for reasons of transparency and objectivity. That, and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising requires us to have this page.

Review Policy:

1) Reviews – At various times we may review travel things and stuff on the blog. If a product, service, or experience was provided to us complimentary, we will disclose such in the text of the article. We are not that cool so you will find that most of our articles do not have a disclosure,  because – you guessed it, we paid for it out of pocket. Small pockets. To be clear, dining is never free.

2) Media Rates – hotels and other travel destinations and experiences sometimes offer discounts to bloggers; occasionally, we receive these discounts. When we do receive these discounts, we are under no obligation to report favorably on any experience that we received at a discounted rate. To be clear we are not in a position to receive room discounts. If this were to change we will state it here and in the individual post.

Even when we receive compensation for some of our posts or advertisements, we always give our honest opinions, findings, beliefs, or experiences on those topics or products. You will always find criticism where criticism is due, and calling things as we see them as we strive to remain objective.

This will continue until the day this site goes offline.

Advertising:

We do not recommend products unless we believe they are of value to you and we believe in them.

Websites are time-consuming. We don’t want to waste your time with irrelevant content.

Ads: We currently run two types of ads: static banner ads and Google AdSense. AdSense is the advertising network owned by Google that delivers ads to the vast majority of websites on the internet. We do not have control over what ads are delivered through this network, but you do. Google delivers these ads based on your known preferences and browsing history (sort of Big Brother-ish, right?). Static paid ads also appear.

Affiliate Programs: Like virtually every website on the internet, some of the shopping links on TappedOutTravellers.com are referral links. These links track the source of the purchase back to this website through an affiliate program. When you click on one of those links and buy something we receive a small commission from the linked site for referring you. At no cost to you! We only link to products and services that we personally use and/or recommend based on detailed research.

If you have a purchase to make these links are a resource. They don’t affect the price of anything you buy. And hopefully, you find what you are looking for.

Amazon Services LLC Associates Program:

We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. At no cost to you.
