A thrilling family day at Calypso Waterpark offers non-stop fun with over 35 water attractions, from heart-pounding slides to kid-friendly splash zones. Discover tips, highlights, and why this summer hotspot is worth the drive from Ottawa.
There’s no better way to beat the heat than a day at Calypso Waterpark, just 35 minutes from downtown Ottawa. As Canada’s largest waterpark, Calypso delivers an adrenaline-packed mix of slides, wave pools, and splash zones, perfect for families, thrill-seekers, and everyone in between.
Top Attractions for Every Age Group
We arrived early to secure a shady picnic spot—insider tip: rent a cabana or bring a pop-up tent if you want guaranteed shade. Lockers are available near the main entrance, which makes stashing valuables and sunscreen simple. Our first stop? Accelerators, a high-intensity slide that gets your heart racing and sets the tone for the day.

The kids gravitated to Pirate’s Aquaplay—a massive play structure with tipping buckets and slides designed just for them. For a mid-day break, we floated lazily along the Kongo Expedition, Calypso’s winding lazy river, which gave us just enough recovery time to dive into the massive Calypso Palace wave pool next.

Lunch at the park was surprisingly decent—grab a burger or poutine from one of the many food stands. That said, Calypso allows outside food, so packing your own picnic can be a budget-friendly option.

Later in the day, we hit the daring Vertigo and Adrenaline slides while the little ones cooled off again at Zoo Lagoon. With 35+ slides and attractions, you’re never short on ways to burn energy.

Tips for Making the Most of Your Visit
Pro tip: arrive early, wear water shoes, reapply sunscreen often, and set a clear meeting spot in case anyone gets separated.

After a full day of laughter, splashes, and sun-soaked memories, we left exhausted—but already planning our next visit. Whether you’re traveling with toddlers or teens, Calypso Waterpark delivers a full day of summer fun that’s worth the drive.
