Museums are always a great place to visit with children, however, it can become quite expensive to visit a museum. They are, however, hands down the best way to both entertain and educate your children. Exploring the Ottawa Museums with kids doesn’t have to be a chore, nor does it have to break the bank, because let’s be honest, they aren’t exactly free…or are they?

European museums tend to have one night per month where they are open to the public for free. Here is a list of when to visit museums in Ottawa for FREE with the kids!
- RCMP Musical Ride Centre: always free
- Currency Museum of the Bank of Canada: always free
- Rideau Hall: always free
- Parliament Hill: always free
- Canada Agriculture and Food Museum: daily from 4 to 5 p.m.
- Canada Aviation and Space Museum: daily from 4 to 5 p.m.
- Canadian Museum of History: every Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m, Canada Day (July 1st) and Remembrance Day (November 11th)
- Children’s Museum: every Thursday from 4 to 8 pm, Canada Day (July 1st) and Remembrance Day (November 11th)
- Canadian Museum of Nature: every Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m, Canada Day (July 1st)
- Canadian War Museum: every Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m, Canada Day (July 1st), Remembrance Day (November 11th)
- Canadian Science & Technology Museum: daily from 4 to 5 p.m.
- National Gallery of Canada: every Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m, Canada Day (July 1st), and at all times for children under the age of 12.
